Four Jamaican-Canadians. One Sheet of Ice. Zero clue what they're doing. Cool Sweepings is a heart-filled, high-energy comedy series about friendship, family, and the fight to save a community legacy, set against the unlikely backdrop of Winnipeg's curling culture.
Chris, a Jamaican-Canadian teenager from Winnipeg's South End, works multiple low-wage jobs while helping operate his family's struggling curling rink. When he discovers that the bank is preparing to foreclose, Chris is ready to walk away from a burden he never asked to carry. But his loyal and chaotic crew Fillmore, Denny and DJ Nate reminds him that the rink is more than peeling paint and cracked ice. It is where they grew up, discovered who they were and found a place to belong.
With no curling experience, no money and no real plan, the friends make a desperate pact: enter a local bonspiel with a $50,000 grand prize and use the winnings to save the rink. Their attempt to reinvent themselves as a competitive curling team launches a hilarious journey filled with training disasters, failed fundraising schemes, social-media mishaps and rivalries with elite curlers who dismiss them as a joke.
Along the way, they meet Kyra, a former curling prodigy with a painful history in the sport. She reluctantly agrees to coach them, transforming four clueless amateurs into a team with heart, determination and unexpected talent. Meanwhile, Chris's father, Kevon, struggles to balance cultural pride, financial desperation and the legacy of the rink he built for his family and community.
As the competition intensifies, so do the stakes. The team faces sabotage, personal conflicts, viral fame and emotional crossroads while a 60-day bank deadline draws closer. Through every setback and small victory, they rediscover the meaning of brotherhood, community and believing in something greater than themselves.
